Over 370,000 Visitors at the Serbian Pavilion at the Expo in Osaka
More than 370,000 people have visited the Serbian Pavilion at the Expo in Osaka so far, said Jagoda Lazarevic, Serbia’s Commissioner General for "Expo Osaka 2025" and Minister of Internal and Foreign Trade.
She added that there is great interest in the Serbian pavilion. Lazarevic emphasized that the importance of the Serbian Pavilion at the Expo is absolutely unquestionable.
“We already have a tradition of participating in previous world expos, both universal and specialized. This is a great opportunity and a way to better prepare for our own Expo in two years. So far, we can be more than satisfied because the number of visitors has greatly exceeded expectations. We are currently at over 370,000 visitors, and we are confident that by next week the number will reach 400,000, which is an excellent result for Osaka,” the minister told Newsmax Balkans.
She noted that Japanese visitors have found something interesting and appealing in the Serbian Pavilion.
According to her, Serbia has achieved its goals – first, to participate in this prestigious event, and secondly, to use the Pavilion to promote the event we will host in two years. This is something that countries with regular Expo participation are well aware of. When asked what makes the Serbian Pavilion special, Lazarevic said it is located near the entrance and stands out for its ecological design.

She added that while some countries have larger structures and are traditionally represented by the most prominent buildings, the Serbian Pavilion has attracted a great deal of attention.
“I am especially proud that, compared to countries in our region, we are represented here in a more prominent way, which again highlights our role. I don’t want to sound pretentious, but it seems we are positioning ourselves in the best possible way, and we've managed to stand out,” the minister said.
She added that the upcoming Monday conference is extremely important because it is a bilateral event organized with Japanese partners.
“Japan is very important to us, especially in terms of economic cooperation, which has been successfully developing over the past six or seven years. Our goal is to attract even more Japanese investors and to significantly increase trade exchange with this important country, not only in this region but globally. We expect – and I have already seen the numbers – many respected Japanese companies will attend our investment conference tomorrow. This is a great opportunity for us to present ourselves to the Japanese business community in the best light,” she said.
The first International Planning Meeting (IPM) for participation in the Specialized Exhibition EXPO 2027 in Belgrade has concluded, bringing together more than 400 delegates from as many as 154 countries around the world, according to a statement by the company "EXPO2027".
She added that the goal is to bring Serbia’s potential closer to Japanese companies.
“We already have a significant number of their investments, but we want more. We also want to develop other segments of economic cooperation. We need Japan for the energy sector, infrastructure, environmental protection, and agriculture,” she emphasized.
Zarko Malinovic, author of the theme of the Serbian Pavilion at EXPO 2025 Osaka and Deputy Commissioner General for Expo 2027, explained what makes the Serbian Pavilion unique.
“This pavilion is unique because Serbia is the next Expo destination. The pavilion serves as a bridge between the two world exhibitions – Expo Osaka and Expo Belgrade. While visiting our pavilion, attendees can also participate in and co-create content for Expo 2027 in Belgrade,” Malinovic told Newsmax Balkans.
He also added that this is the first time in modern history that Serbia has a restaurant within its pavilion.
“In this way, the Pavilion creates a strong emotional connection with visitors and becomes the best invitation for them to come to Belgrade and be part of EXPO 2027,” Malinovic said.
